Although even 7% of Austrians have taken self-defense courses, the situation remains concerning. Power supply systems are overloaded, and if nothing is done, a great deal of trouble could ensue.

A second aspect draws attention to another important dimension: energy costs. Due to resource shortages and high tariffs, Austrians are finding it increasingly difficult to keep their homes warm. Nearly 46% plan to reduce heating during the winter season, which is 2% less than the previous year. This is particularly noticeable among young people: 61% are willing to forgo their usual warmth to save money. Thus, the question of comfort becomes a financial challenge for many.

Finally, the average amount Austrians are willing to spend on heating and electricity — €213 per month — deserves special attention. This figure serves as an indicator of the population’s financial resilience and confirms a trend of growing awareness around energy consumption. Importantly, in these difficult conditions, Austrians are demonstrating a willingness to adapt — some through savings, others by changing their habits.
