Despite the current optimism, experts such as Andreas Kletecka, a professor of civil law from Salzburg, hold little hope for debt repayment by Gazprom. He notes that 230 million euros, in the context of a long-term contract, may seem relatively modest — but blackmail and political pressure will remain on the agenda. In the current political climate, where energy security is becoming ever more urgent, Austria must find ways to manage its resources effectively and avoid future risks.
